Fritzart Festival in Stavenhagen: A creative end after 5000 visitors!
Stavenhagen, Deutschland - In Stavenhagen there will be no Fritzart Festival for the time being. The organizers have made it clear that "Fritzart" is history. While the event was once a highlight of the region, opinions about the open-air gallery, which remains as a discount, are split. According to [nordkurier.de] (https://www.nordkurier.de/regional/mecklenburg--schweiz/fassadenkunst- first-in-dieser-stadt-wohn-kein--behn- 3683899) there were discrepancies that led to this decision.
A central point of the discussion was the presence of the city dwellers during the festival. The artistic director Toralf Zoldan critically commented on the lack of support for the locals. Mayor Stefan Guzu contradicted him and emphasized that he was actively among the artists. "I visited the artists and the encounters were enriching," said Guzu.
The challenges of the festival
The difficulties were not only limited to the artists. The organization of the regional market also fought problems. It was found that the connection between the artisan markets on the market square and in the memory did not work well on the B 104 because there were too few traders. The changeable weather also did not help, and only a farm bakery was able to fill gaps at short notice to enliven the market.
"This is how a good business does nobody," smiled Martin Hofmann, who was responsible for the musical highlights and the catering. This was his last event in Stavenhagen, and he also expressed dissatisfaction with the cooperation with the city. In contrast, Tony Schumalla, responsible for the graffiti, did not see the mistakes so narrow and emphasized the positive effect of the festival.
a festival full of colors
The Fritzart Festival organized by NDR 1 Radio MV was known for attracting more than 70 graffiti artists from Germany and around the world. The focus was on the beautification of gray walls with impressive paintings, including several gables in a prefabricated area. This year, the participants on the Pentecost weekend were able to design a 500-meter-long open-air gallery in the castle garden-an attraction that was brought to life thanks to workshops, lectures and appearances of bands such as Mia and Knorkator. According to Tagesschau.de the event counted up to 6000 visitors and offered a platform for creativity and the courage to dare.
Mayor Guzu praised the festival and thanked all participants in a letter for their passion and planning. "It was a complete success," he enthused, while the decision not to continue the festival.
