Ukrainian intern brings summer atmosphere to Stavenhagen!

How are things going in beautiful Stavenhagen? Halyna Hliebova, a 41-year-old Ukrainian, is causing a stir in the city library. As part of a six-week internship, she not only improved her German skills, but also launched several creative projects. She came to Germany with her daughter from Dnipro, a city in Ukraine, to flee the chaos of the war. Halyna has made impressive progress towards building a new life for herself in Germany.

The internship, which turned out to be a real enrichment for Halyna, included activities such as borrowing books, cataloging and sorting titles worth reading. She also put together an exhibition decorated with shells, Baltic Sea sand and a fishing net. She left recommendations for relaxing summer reading, which were well received by library visitors. Her work colleagues Janett Rakow and Katja Böttcher praise her hard work and commitment.

A special connection

Halyna developed a particularly close friendship with Katja Böttcher, whom she welcomed into her apartment after the outbreak of war. This support helped Halyna enormously during a very difficult time. Since her son stayed behind in Ukraine, she finds thinking about her family on a daily basis a great challenge. While Halyna worked as a computer scientist and legal assistant in her hometown of Dnipro, she is bringing her experience with her to Germany, where she will hopefully soon find a suitable job.

In her free time, Halyna meets other refugees. An estimated 100 Ukrainians live in Stavenhagen and she enjoys the company. Your daughter attends high school on the Reuterstadt school campus and feels comfortable. Halyna describes the people in Germany as particularly nice and has overall positive impressions of her new home.

Language support and integration

Learning the German language plays a central role for Halyna. In order to improve her communication, she completed a German course and explored various learning methods. Regular listening to German radio stations also contributes to their progress, in line with the numerous offers that exist for refugees. Among other things, free language courses are available for all levels from A1 to C2, which are particularly suitable for starting a career or further training. The various programs and resources offer support in all situations and can be tailored to individual needs, as bfz.de reports.

There are also numerous information offerings on portals such as bamf.de, where those interested can find out everything about language courses and qualification measures. These programs are crucial to integrating newly arrived Ukrainians like Halyna into the German labor market.

Halyna has already achieved a lot so far, and her life in the small, beautiful town is becoming more livable every day. Even though she often thinks about Ukraine, her focus now is on everyday life and integration in Germany. Her daughter enjoys going to school, and this gives Halyna the courage to continue working on her future.
