An important project for vocational training in the region is taking shape: The district of Vorpommern-Greifswald plans to build a new regional vocational education center (RBB) in Greifswald. Last Friday, the notice of grant over 44.3 million euros was made by the Minister of Economics, Infrastructure, Tourism and Work, Dr. Wolfgang Blank, handed over. This takes a crucial step towards a modern training environment for the future specialists in the region.

The decision to merging the previous locations in Hans-Beimler-Straße and Siemensallee should not only optimize the training offers, but also enable optimal utilization of the training areas. The new building in Siemensallee is designed to be barrier -free so that all students and teachers can reach the facility without obstacles. Step and threshold-free inputs and outputs as well as several elevator systems are planned. With a photovoltaic system and the connection to the urban district heating network, sustainability is also used, which is not only ecologically but also economical.

In the new educational institution, around 1,800 pupils and 100 teachers will find space. The overall project amounts to around 55.4 million euros, whereby the state is providing around 80 percent of the costs for economic infrastructure and the European Fund for Regional Development.
