Peace trip in Western Pomerania: 150 cyclists conquer the Uecker-Randow!
On Saturday, July 6, 2025, the eagerly awaited “Pasewalker Cycling Tour” took place, during which around 150 cyclists cycled through the beautiful Uecker-Randow region. Under the experienced leadership of ex-Olympic champion Olaf Ludwig, the participants took part in both the long route of 105 kilometers and the shorter, touristy version of 47 kilometers. The latter was chosen by families like the Beiersdorffs, who were traveling together with their son Ansgar. The varied route led through picturesque places such as Viereck, Torgelow, Hammer, Rothemühl, Neuensund, and many other altitudes.
The cyclists pedaled at an average speed of almost 20 km/h, with some even reaching speeds of up to 40 km/h. Participant Steffi Jäkel was particularly enthusiastic about the route and the organization of the event. However, there were also concerned voices - Gerhard Wolf, one of the oldest participants at 78, expressed concerns about e-bike riders, whose technology and speed are becoming more and more important.
A secure coastal defense
The Pasewalker Cycling Tour was organized by the Pasewalker Stadtwerke in close cooperation with a health insurance company, which underlines the local aspect of the event. Medals and refreshments were distributed by organizing director Mandy Ruthenberg and her dedicated team. But there was also a small incident: one participant sustained injuries in a fall and had to be taken to the hospital, while all the other cyclists crossed the finish line safely.
The establishment of such cycling events not only promotes health sports, but also a sign of love for nature and the regional community. Looking to the future, it is already clear that the Pasewalker Cycling Tour will also take place next year, which will only increase the anticipation among cycling enthusiasts.
E-bikes and their role in cycling
A significant theme that shaped the event is the influence of e-bikes on cycling. According to radsport-wulff.de, the right accessories are crucial for comfort and safety. Padded saddles, ergonomic handles and modern lighting systems play an important role in ensuring a pleasant driving experience - especially on longer journeys.
Whether a padded saddle for more comfort, mudguards to protect against splashing water or a dashcam for additional safety – the choice is large. With the increasing number of e-bike riders, the demand for safety-related extras has also grown. High-quality safety vests and breakdown sets should be essential for every e-bike to ensure safety on the road.
The event in Pasewalk once again showed how important and unifying cycling is. Whether on a classic bike or in the saddle of an e-bike – the joy of movement and nature are the focus.
For the upcoming events in the region, such as the “Rad am Haff” tour in Mönkebude or the “Mecklenburger Lakes Round”, which is 300 kilometers long and attracted over 5,000 participants in May, the mix of sporting challenge and community event remains a central concern.
