New president of the Rotary Club: Sandra Nachtweih brings a breath of fresh air!
A fresh wind is blowing through the Ueckermünde-Pasewalk-Stettiner Haff Rotary Club. With Sandra Nachtweih, the former mayor of Paswalk, a committed woman has now taken over the presidency. This change brings new impulses and ideas to a club that has been committed to the community for over eight years. Sandra Nachtweih is the second woman to serve in this position, after Kerstin Pukallus, the mayor of Torgelow, already successfully preceded her. The members of the club not only meet regularly, but also have a clear goal in mind: improving living conditions through volunteer work.
The Rotary Club Ueckermünde-Pasewalk-Stettiner Haff is characterized by its focus on humanitarian aid and the networking of its members. Sanford reports that Nachtweih's new motto "Get to know your neighbors - find a partner" will shape the club's activities. Collaboration and exchange with other clubs, such as the Prenzlauer Rotary Club, is at the top of the agenda. Joint events are planned to promote mutual support.
Commitment to the community
The importance of volunteer work is also reflected in the projects that the club supports. Upcoming activities include an initiative to collect gifts for children in care in Goleniow-Nowogard, Poland. This campaign is a long-standing tradition that is carried out in close cooperation with the Szczecin Rotary Club. The Rotarians also use the opportunity to spread joy: As part of the “Learn to Read – Learn to Live” project, second graders from twelve primary schools in the Uecker-Randow region receive a book as a gift, and Rotarians read these books to the children. A real highlight for the youngest!
Rotary International, founded in Chicago in 1905, has grown into a global network of over 46,000 clubs. This shows that the idea of mutual aid and commitment has its place not only locally, but also globally. Membership now includes approximately 1.4 million Rotarians committed to promoting peace, health, education and economic well-being worldwide. Most notable is the PolioPlus program, which has since contributed more than $900 million to combat the disease. A real example of how much can be achieved together.
Sandra Nachtweih is now part of this bigger picture. With her background and experience in local politics, she brings a good hand and is ready to break new ground. A strong network awaits their leadership, and the coming years already promise many exciting projects and initiatives. Let's stay tuned to see what will develop in the Rotary Club under her presidency.
