Sparkasse Uecker-Randow celebrates 190 years with a big summer party!

Sparkasse Uecker-Randow is celebrating a major anniversary! On June 28th, the institution in Pasewalk invites you to a special summer party to mark its 190th birthday. From 10 a.m., the parking lot at Stettiner Straße 20 will be transformed into a lively festival area with a colorful family program that will delight not only the little guests. Face painting, a bouncy castle and a wheel of fortune provide entertainment and excitement.

But that's not all. The highlight of the celebration is the ceremonial cutting of the huge birthday cake by the Sparkasse board, a tradition that underlines the sense of community. Musical performances are also provided: the Rossower Schalmeienkapelle, a magician, students from the Ueckermünde music school, gymnasts from the region and the trumpeter Kurt Witt from Pasewalk perform and bring a touch of festivity to the celebrations. There will also be an award for clubs that took part in a fundraising campaign, which once again shows the Sparkasse's connection to the region. This seems to be viewed as a permanent partner not only in Pasewalk, but also beyond the city limits.

A long story

The roots of Sparkasse Uecker-Randow go back to 1835, when the savings bank was founded on May 11th. In 1995, the Sparkasse merged into its current form and the main branch on Stettiner Straße was completely reconstructed and expanded. The history of the savings bank movement in Germany has a deep social background and aims to give the poorer sections of the population access to safe savings options. While private orphanages and pawnshops took the first steps in this direction in the past, the first German savings bank in the modern sense was founded in Hamburg in 1778. Ludgar Weskamp, President of the East German Savings Bank Association, brought up the origin of the idea behind savings banks during the anniversary celebration. He recalled how the idea of savings banks came about in times of economic hardship and how important it remains to this day.

Sparkasse Uecker-Randow has established itself not only as a financial service provider, but also as an important employer and training company in the region. District Administrator Michael Sack pointed out the great trust that people place in the savings bank, while Heiko Miraß, State Secretary for Western Pomerania, emphasized the institution's responsibility for jobs and education. The board members Annett Zahn and Susan Mirasch highlighted the Sparkasse's development into a modern service provider and went further by outlining the Sparkasse's future role in the region as sustainable and customer-oriented.

Attachment to the region

Pasewalk's mayor Danny Rodewald described the savings bank as an irreplaceable pillar of city development and a reliable trade tax payer, while Ueckermünde's mayor Jürgen Kliewe emphasized the savings bank's personal closeness to the citizens. This close bond between the Sparkasse and the residents makes it an indispensable part of the region. The Sparkasse continues to plan to expand its role as a regional financial institution and keep the savings bank idea alive for future generations.

A look into the past shows how closely the history of the savings banks is linked to the development of the German state. From their first founding in the 18th century to the present day, savings institutions have always supported people in social need and strengthened the regional economy. Sparkasse Uecker-Randow is a shining example of how tradition can go hand in hand with contemporary financial services.

We invite everyone to visit the summer festival on June 28th and, together with Sparkasse Uecker-Randow, look back on the last 190 years and toast to the future.
