Cultural revival: Mobile stage brings art directly to our homes!

An exciting project is currently being presented in Dargun that is intended to bring a breath of fresh air into the cultural scene in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania: the idea of a mobile stage. Karola Stenschke, the initiator of the project, presented it to the local action group (LAG) “Demminer Land”. The goal? Bringing art and culture directly to people's doorsteps and strengthening regional diversity. According to that Northern Courier The mobile stage will be used for a variety of events, including concerts, theater performances, workshops and art exhibitions.

Collaboration with local people is particularly important to Stenschke. The aim is to create a strong community commitment that does not focus on profit, but rather promotes social exchange. In this way, cultural workers and artists can develop creatively and develop projects together with the residents.

Funding and support

But what about financing? The total cost of the mobile stage is 75,500 euros. Of this, 60,000 euros are for the actual stage, 7,500 euros for lighting and sound technology and 500 euros for branding. So far, Stenschke has already raised 18,399.16 euros of its own funds and plans to receive 57,199.84 euros from EU funding. The application for support in accordance with the Lake District's Cultural Funding Directive is submitted to the EU, which supports such projects within the LEADER program. In rural regions, the quality of life should be increased and local participation of the population should be promoted europa-foerdert-kultur.eu explained.

In this context, applications from municipalities, associations and small companies are being examined, which is intended to diversify the cultural offerings in the regions. Projects related to culture are intended to initiate transformation processes in rural areas and increase social participation.

Challenges and legal aspects

Despite the positive response, there were also critical questions from LAG members. Concerns were raised about the transport, installation, care and maintenance of the mobile stage. Stenschke is optimistic and plans to work on a project basis in order to cover the costs through separate funds. Given the lack of clarity regarding storage and maintenance of the stage, a lot of preparatory work will still be necessary.

Thomas Engler, head of the building authority in the Hanseatic city of Demmin, also pointed out the legal aspects and the responsibility of the initiator, which should not be ignored. The question remains whether all challenges can be overcome in order to further expand the cultural offerings in the region.

The mobile stage could turn out to be a real broadband tool to reach people and places that would otherwise not be addressed. It remains exciting to see how this project will develop and what creative ideas will emerge from the collaboration between artists and the community.
