New fire engine for Warsow: Without a cent from the municipal treasury!

The Warsow volunteer fire brigade has reason to celebrate: after long years of saving and organizing, a new command and hobs shone in the colors of the emergency services. The old emergency vehicle from 1999 was no longer TÜV-capable and therefore no longer be classified as in the event of an emergency. "It was time to do something," says the board of the newly founded support association, which was launched in 2019 to ensure the financing of a new vehicle.

A new way of financing

Financial means for the purchase of a new emergency vehicle were not available to the small municipality Warsow for a long time. But the support association could not be discouraged and started various actions. This included scrap collections, donation tours and the traditional autumn fire, which was actively attended by many citizens. "People participated great," says a club member. Another advantage of the association is the possibility of issuing donation receipts, which makes it easier for donors to process.

After six years of intensive collecting, the time had finally come: a used command wagon, a former police car, was acquired. The promise for the purchase came on December 3 of the previous year. "There was really a lot of work and commitment behind it," he emphasizes proudly. In order to make the car fit for use, it was comprehensively rebuilt, including the repair of a dent and a new foil. In total, the acquisition costs were around 16,500 euros, and without a cent from the municipal treasury.

The support of local companies played a crucial role in the procurement of the vehicle. Companies such as Marth Design from Schwerin, Prinz Technik and the Pump Service Nord from Warsow contributed significantly to the implementation of this project. The old command car was also sold to a private individual, which flushed additional funds for the association in the cash register.

The work of the Warsow volunteer fire brigade is not limited to the emergency. At siren alarm, the municipal residents rush to the fire brigade equipment house, while the firefighters put on their operational clothes and willingly help with fires and other emergencies. But there is also plenty to do without an alarm: the fire brigade comrades take care of the maintenance of the equipment and offer activities for children and young people in the youth fire brigade. They also organize community activities such as family hikes and Easter fire, everything on a voluntary basis.

Nevertheless, the firefighters want better equipment: "We need more folders, larger team buses and much more," said a firefighter. In a new initiative, you would like to achieve both short-term and long-term goals and ask for donations in kind or money.

What remains is gratitude for the support from the community and the joy of the new vehicle. The Warsow volunteer fire brigade is ready for the upcoming challenges and is looking forward to continuing to be an important part of the community.
