B195: Planned full closure causes chaos during the summer holidays!

The summer holidays not only bring vacation and relaxation, but also extensive construction work on the roads in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. From July 21st, the B195 between Bahlen and Vorderhagen will be completely closed for around six weeks. This is reported by the Uckermark courier, who explains that the renewal of the road is necessary because the asphalt surface layer has reached the end of its useful life. The construction work is expected to last until September 5th, during which time the B5 between Vellahn and Boizenburg will become a bottleneck.

A circumstance that will further aggravate the situation: Due to low water levels, there are currently restrictions on ferry connections between Lauenburg and Dömitz. This has already led to a notable increase in traffic. From August, the Hamburg-Berlin railway line will also be completely closed, bringing additional traffic to the already overloaded B5. Further challenges are also planned for the construction work on the B195: two stop beams will be installed between Gülze and Bandekow for flood protection, which will make driving on the road impossible during the construction period. The concrete needs to set in around 28 days, so flexible planning is required.

Full closures and diversions

A further cut will take place on the B195 between Kuhlenfeld and Vellahn from August 12th. Here, the Schwerin road construction authority is planning a full closure in order to renew the asphalt surface and carry out necessary work on two culverts. This measure will take about a month and the diversion route will take you along the state roads in Lower Saxony. A good hand is required here because the existing street widths do not allow half-side closure to ensure safety requirements. The construction costs amount to around 1.1 million euros and will also be borne by the federal government, informs Northern Courier.

The inevitable traffic restrictions caused by the construction sites make good planning for commuters and drivers essential. In order to create an overview and transparency, citizens can easily view current construction sites using a digital construction site tool. This tool also provides the ability to quickly capture redirection recommendations and other important information. The goal: more safety for all road users. The site explains how this works Safe streets.

The coming weeks will be a real test for all road users in the region. A clever plan and the use of digital tools can help you cope with everyday life in the best possible way despite the construction sites. It shows once again: Every renovation is also an opportunity to improve our road infrastructure, even if the path to get there is paved with challenges.
