Lübz Christmas Market: A magical festival full of music and magical lights!

It's festive in Lübz! Last weekend, the Lübz Christmas market opened its doors and the city celebrated an atmospheric event that attracted both locals and former Lübzers. The market has developed further in recent years and is attracting numerous visitors with its new concept. A special highlight were the musical performances, which put everyone in a good mood.

For the first time this year, Friday evening was used as the start of the market, expanding the traditional weekend on the second Advent to include a social evening. The celebration started at 5 p.m. with live music by Igor Landy, a well-known participant in “The Voice of Germany” 2018. The team around Mayor Astrid Becker, supported by Daisy Herbst and the Lübz trade association, has made it their mission to organize the market and bring as many lights as possible into the streets.

Festive atmosphere and regional participation

The new Christmas village on the castle tower was set up especially for the occasion with sheltered seating and offered a cozy atmosphere to many visitors. In addition, many volunteers and locals got involved in making the event lively. The young people of the volunteer fire department baked traditional stick cakes on an open fire, which was particularly well received by the younger visitors.

But that wasn't all! On Saturday, the choir from the Lübz elementary school performed as usual at 1 p.m. and brought contemplative sounds to the festive gathering. In addition to the hourly program highlights, guests were able to discover the stalls and stands that offered gifts and homemade items. So your physical well-being was taken care of on both days, while the city let the city center shine with a warm magic light. The Lübzer Land e.V. picture book cinema in the library was also a real treat for the youngest children.

Nice prospects for the future

Mayor Becker also gave an outlook on future projects in Lübz. The construction of a new daycare center for 160 children, estimated to cost seven million euros, is on the agenda. In addition, a renovation of the multi-purpose hall for up to 800 visitors is planned, with a budget of 3.9 million euros. Thanks to two funding commitments totaling 2.44 million euros, the financial course has already been set.

The Lübz Christmas market is valued as a small, family market. “We wanted to achieve a financial black zero,” said Becker about the positive development of the market. Like many of those responsible, she is planning to run again next year, while discussions about possible opposing candidates are already developing among the general public.

The coming years look promising for Lübz. To everyone who missed this festive market, come back next year, the tradition is alive and there is always something new to discover!
