Demonstration for Queere Diversity in Parchim: Dear vs. Hass!
Parchim, Deutschland - It gets colorful and diverse in Parchim! The first demonstration for Queere diversity will take place on Saturday, June 28th. Under the motto "Love defeats every hate", the organizer Daniel Engel wants to set a clear signal with supporters from the LGBTQ scene and the left alternative movement. The aim of this movement is to make the diversity of society visible and to draw attention to everyday discrimination that many queer people experience. Engel, who has only lived in Parchim since this spring and catches the eye through his striking tattoos, remembers personal hostility and various attacks, including throwing stones on his windows. These experiences motivate him to give others the courage to comment on too.
Together with networks such as "No Bock on Nazis", the left youth and the "Collective Resistance MV", Engel plans the demonstration that will start at the train station at 2:30 p.m. and lead to the city center. The shoe market is planned for the final rally, but the organizers are moving in a sensitive terrain: counter -demonstrations from the right warehouse have already been announced. The upcoming meeting with the city, the district and the police, which will have clarifying talks on Wednesday, is all the more important. The Ludwigslust police inspection has already signaled its support and will be on site with a contingent to ensure security during the event.
diversity live and promote
But the demonstration is not the only sign that is supposed to sprout for queer-friendly culture in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. As part of a special cultural support program, called "Queere Diversity in Libraries and Socio Culture", the country shows engagement for the visualization of different realities in the region. In the first half of 2024, the State Association of Socio Culture MV e.V. will take place in Parchim. Here is the possibility for discussion about the challenges that queer people experience in rural areas, as well as strategies for protection against hostility.
At the conference on October 16, 2024, topics such as the design of safe rooms and programs for queer visitors are discussed. Many local actors, including Laura Armborst and Antje Theise, bring their ideas and experiences to create a positive climate for everyone together
LGBTQ rights in Germany
in Parchim is now not only demonstrated for diversity, but also for basic human rights. The support for angels and his colleagues shows that there is a clear wish in society to campaign for a more respectful and more inclusive future. Hopefully June 28th and the actions of the coming months will be a step in the right direction, in a region in which people can lead a safe life.
