Christmas highlights: Advent joys in Sternberg and the surrounding area!

Advent shows its most beautiful side in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. On the second weekend of Advent there are numerous events that will allow you to enjoy the pre-Christmas season to the fullest. Whether in the Sternberg Lake District or visiting the large Christmas markets in the area - the region has a lot to offer!

A look at the activities in the Sternberg Lake District immediately makes you want more. The Advent weekend starts with a tranquil cinema evening in Warin. On Friday, December 5th, viewers can enjoy the warm Christmas film “A Christmas for Teddy” at 5 p.m. For lovers of suspense, the thriller “Confessions of the Impostor Felix Krull” will be available from 8 p.m. Entry costs just 5 euros and the cinema opens its doors half an hour before the performances.

Festive markets and exciting performances

Saturday, December 6th, is the day of the St. Nicholas market in Sternberg. From 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., the town hall market will be a meeting place for young and old. Santa Claus will be ceremoniously summoned at 10 a.m., followed by a puppet theater with the classic “Rumpelstiltskin” at 11 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Musical entertainment will be provided by the dance group “Glow & Shine”, the Dabel handbell choir as well as the KGS school choir and the popular Bosse Schreiber. There is something for everyone here!

At the same time, visitors can meet Santa Claus at the Golchener Hof from 1 p.m. Wolfgang Schwalm and Bauer Korl ensure an entertaining afternoon, which is rounded off with a DJ set. Entry costs 35 euros including coffee.

In Neukloster the Christmas market also opens on St. Nicholas Day. From 2 p.m. to 7 p.m., guests can enjoy the festive atmosphere in the monastery courtyard. The “Sonnenkamp” daycare center and the Krümelrocker provide a varied program together with line dance demonstrations. A children's carousel, book readings and carriage rides are also part of the offering, and Santa Claus is expected at 4 p.m.

Advent sounds and delights

At the Bibow Christmas market, which takes place in the Alte Schmiede in Neuhof from 3 p.m., a tranquil ambience and delicious treats await guests. If you like it more sociable, you will find a nice pre-Christmas atmosphere at the Advent market in Ventschow from 3:30 p.m., organized by the kindergarten and the community. Musical performances and an announced Santa Claus round off the experience.

Finally, the Dabel handbell choir invites you to musical enjoyment on Sunday, December 7th at 10 a.m. in the Dabel village church, while the Jesendorf village Christmas invites you from 12 p.m. with woodwork, ceramics and a children's carousel. From 3 p.m., “Saitenspinner” play Advent songs, and the Wismar trombone choir rounds off the program. A nativity play in the church at 5 p.m. promises the crowning conclusion.

And if you want to experience the Christmas atmosphere in a larger city, you should take a trip to Berlin to the Christmas market Alexanderplatz plan. Here the square is transformed into a wintry village with wooden stalls and the smell of chestnuts and punch. The largest Erzgebirge pyramid in Europe with pink lighting attracts attention. Handcrafted gifts and culinary delicacies such as mulled wine and Thuringian bratwurst can be purchased at 100 stalls. The highlight is a roller skating rink for the whole family and musical accompaniment by a tower brass ensemble. Entry is free and traveling by public transport is recommended.

For everyone who wants to get into a homely mood in the run-up to Christmas, this Advent season in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania offers a colorful program full of joy, enjoyment and beautiful moments.
