Frog Prince returns triumphantly to Gadebusch after vandalism!

In the charming town of Gadebusch, a beloved landmark is returning after being vandalized. The frog prince, who is a popular photo motif for locals and tourists, has been back in his place at the artesian well since today. In September, the friendly figure had to be dismantled when it was damaged by unknown people, losing an eye and part of the crown. Fortunately, Jens Zollhöfer from the municipal building yard brought the injured frog prince to safety and has now put him back up.

Mayor Arne Schlien was happy about the little king's return and hopes that such incidents will be a thing of the past. “We are thinking about how we can prevent further vandalism,” said the mayor. The concerns are not unfounded, as the police recently caught two suspected graffiti sprayers, 21 and 24 years old, in Gadebusch. They were suspected of being responsible for graffiti on Wollbrügger Straße and in the area around the train station. The young men were caught while escaping on Lübsche Strasse, where the officers found a spray can and initiated an investigation into property damage.

Vandalism in focus

The return of the frog prince is a positive sign amid worrying developments in the city. Vandalism is an issue that causes fear and frustration among many citizens. The city administration is therefore taking preventive measures to avoid such damage in the future. “We want our Gadebusch to remain a place where such works of art are valued and preserved,” adds the mayor.

In recent months, the city has repeatedly been confronted with deliberate damage, which not only causes financial damage, but also puts a strain on social interaction. The return of the frog prince, along with community engagement, could help raise awareness about protecting public property.

Aside from these incidents, Gadebusch offers many opportunities for recreation and an excellent setting for outdoor activities. With its charming landscape, the city is a popular excursion destination in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania that is always worth a visit.
