The Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania Festival celebrated their 35th birthday in Wismar on June 13, 2025 in Wismar. In the sold-out Georgenkirche, the NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchester, under the direction of almost 98-year-old Herbert Blomstedt, delighted the audience with Beethoven's 2nd Symphony. The concert goers described the evening as a historical magical experience that reflected the special atmosphere of the festival.
The orchestra was accompanied by soprano Regula Mühlemann, who performed a Bach cantata. There was also an premiere: Three talented students from the Rostock University of Music and Theater presented their setting of the "Hohlied of Love", while the college's chamber choir perfectly added to the performance.
