Attention drivers! Schwerin will be a construction site hell from Monday

Drivers in Schwerin beware! From next Monday there will be some construction sites and full closures in the city, which will last until the beginning of July. The roads will be closed not only for necessary repairs, but also due to a sporting event taking place on July 5th. Anyone traveling during this time should be prepared to be patient, especially in the areas mentioned. The Northern Courier summarized the details.

On Monday, June 30th, the Kleiner Moor street at number 11 will be completely closed for asphalting work until July 1st. A signposted diversion has been set up so that drivers do not have to drive into nowhere. Anyone who wants to use Heinrich-Seidel-Straße from Tuesday, July 1st to September 12th will also find themselves in front of locked doors. Not only is the sidewalk being replaced here, but the Schwerin public utility company is also laying electrical and fiber optic cables. A new drinking water pipe is also being installed by WAG. The affected section extends from house number 4 to Wismarschen Straße and is completely closed to both vehicles and pedestrians.

Further construction sites and traffic measures

But that's not all! Asphalting work on Grüne Straße between house numbers 34 and 40 is planned from Wednesday, July 2nd. Here, too, a complete closure and a designated diversion are to be expected due to the construction work; the work should be completed by July 3rd.

Another important date is coming up on July 5th. The Five Lakes Run takes place on this day, which involves numerous temporary traffic restrictions between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. Particularly affected are Schleifmühlenweg, which is designated as a one-way street between Lennéstraße and Johannes-Stelling-Straße, Paulshöher Weg, as well as Kalkwerderring and Tannhöfer Allee, which can only be reached via Schlossgartenallee.

The construction work follows a clear plan to keep disruption to road users as low as possible. In similar cases, as in other regions, it has been shown that such measures are essential to bring the infrastructure into shape and meet future requirements. Streets.NRW describes different types of construction sites, ranging from day-long to permanent construction.

It is advisable for all road users to keep an eye on current traffic reports and to choose alternative routes if necessary. A little patience and flexibility are required in the coming days!
