Alphorn sounds sound: anniversary concerts in Schwerin and Diedrichshagen!

in Schwerin, where the gentle hills and the sound of nature are alive, Klaus Wißner with his 3.63 meter long alphorn ensures unique sound experiences. The 77-year-old plays the expressive tones in his garden and thus brings the magic of the Alps directly to the north. As a co -founder of the alphorn group "Meckalp", he and his colleagues are now celebrating the tenth anniversary of the group. It is an anniversary full of musical highlights that celebrates the love of alphorn music.

The anniversary concerts will take place on June 21st in the Museumsdorf Schwerin-Mueß and on June 22nd in the church in Diedrichshagen. Wißner and his group, consisting of seven passionate winds from different places such as Boltenhagen and Zarrentin, will offer visitors a fantastic program. "We are particularly looking forward to these appearances, they are not only something very special for us, but also for the audience," says Meike Scheel, another group member. The warm, calming sounds of the alphorn will include traditional pieces of music and modern own compositions.

alphorn - an instrument with history

The tradition of alphorn extends to communication between shepherds in the Alps. It originally served to communicate over long distances and called back cows. This remarkable story has shaped the alphorn over the centuries and makes it a symbol of Swiss folk music. As reports exiting.ch, the depth, resonant sound of the instrument can carry up to ten kilometers.

The alphorn itself has developed from a practical means of communication into a recognized art form. Klaus Wißner received his own alphorn in 2009 as a farewell gift and has since discovered his passion for this extraordinary instrument. Lip vibration and targeted air flow create the characteristic natural tones, without any keys or valves. "It is a very special way of music that you have to feel," Wißner describes his experience.

from the beginner to the expert

For all interested parties, the platform naturaloene.ch offers extensive information about the alphorn. Introduction courses and workshops can be found there to immerse yourself in the world of natural tones. The basics of the alphorn game are also discussed and there are numerous free notes for download. The demand for the alphorn is growing, both in Germany and internationally. It is no wonder that the price of an alphorn now amounts to around 2,000 euros and the waiting time can be up to six months.

The popularity of alphorn music is not only shown in appearances such as the upcoming concerts of "Meckalp", but also in the variety of alphorn wind players that are active in different regions. Today, the federal yodel association alone has around 2,000 alphornists. It is a fascinating development that embodies the combination of tradition and modern music and bring the constantly growing community of alphorn lovers a little closer together.

After the concerts in June, the audience will also give the opportunity to talk to the musicians and try to play the alphorn themselves. An experience that will certainly inspire many and at the same time offers a wonderful insight into the art of alphorn play. Warm invitation to all music lovers in the region!
