Culture for everyone: 1.5 million euros for the Dreistrom.Land!
The “Culture for All in Dreistrom.Land” project exceeded expectations and was successfully included in the “Aller.Land” cultural funding program. Again Northern Courier reports, an expert jury selected this innovative project, which will be supported by the federal government with a whopping 1.5 million euros over the next five years. But it's not just the federal government that's getting involved, as the state and local authorities are also contributing 10% co-financing.
“Aller.Land” has set itself the goal of promoting cultural, artistic and creative initiatives in rural, structurally weak regions. Culture Minister Bettina Martin puts it in a nutshell: Basic cultural services in rural areas are of great importance in order to strengthen local cohesion and democracy.
Diverse projects for the region
Overall, the projects in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania are part of a careful selection of 30 regional projects that are funded by the federal government. The Federal Minister for Agriculture, Food and Homeland emphasizes that the investments totaling 45 million euros will be spread over five years to support social cohesion and promote citizen participation. The focus is on the Dreistrom.Land, which includes the cities of Demmin, Altentreptow and Malchin.
Hannah Kuke from the Demmin network association T30 played a key role in the application and emphasizes that the project is participatory. Various participation formats are planned, from the artist-in-residence program entitled “my.Block” to a mobile singing project called “uns.Chor”, which enables people to easily make music together.
A strong commitment to the region
Another exciting element of the project is the museum project “unser.Museum”, which aims to make exhibits from the Demmin Regional Museum accessible again. This not only promotes regional networking, but also enables democratic and cultural participation.
The Federal Government In its explanations of the program, emphasizes that the focus is on regions where access to cultural offerings is often difficult. For example, empty buildings could be converted into meeting places that bring people together.
Cultural exchange and the involvement of different actors from the region are crucial for the development of rural areas. Projects like “Culture for Everyone in Dreistrom.Land” show how a good quality of life can be created with a good concept and solid financial support. With strong co-financing and a variety of project ideas, Dreistrom.Land is well on its way to becoming a vibrant cultural hotspot.
