Feldberg is planning a modern museum in the historic syringe house!

Feldberg, a charming community in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, can look forward to the development of a new museum. A modern museum will be created in the listed syringe house, which will not only bring local history to life, but also act as a source of knowledge about the region. The project aims to shed light on the geological and cultural facets of the Feldberg lake landscape and present them in an understandable way. Nancy Stein, the department manager for construction and community development, is also the responsible museum sponsor for this project.

The concept of the future museum goes beyond simply displaying historical artifacts. Instead, a home parlor will be created, which will be equipped with interactive elements such as an interactive table and a digital system. The financing for the project is already in place: 40,000 euros come from the Western Pomerania Fund and around 232,000 euros come from the European Leader program.

Creative ideas and challenges

“There is something going on” – and not just in the organizational area. The name of the museum is still under debate and interested citizens are invited to submit suggestions. The team led by Joachim Schumann, an experienced museum designer, takes care of the content and spatial implementation of the basic concept. One of the challenges will be to present the wealth of information in a limited space in an appealing and understandable way.

The outdoor area around the fire station is also part of the overall concept. Open spaces and the installation of showcases, information boards and tactile models are planned to increase access to knowledge in a playful way. In a further step, the development of an app and the production of a child-friendly film are even planned. The museum should not only be a place for learning, but also an invitation to marvel and experience.

A look at the museum landscape

What actually makes a museum? A museum is an institution dedicated to the presentation and preservation of culturally or scientifically significant objects. Whether local history, natural sciences or art – the range of museums is almost unlimited. The latest addition to Feldberg will not only enrich the region, but also make a contribution to the general educational landscape, in keeping with the spirit of Wikipedia, which states that museums make a significant contribution to social education and cultural heritage.

In recent years, museums have undergone a transformation. They are increasingly relying on digital tools to reach a broader audience and prepare topics interactively. This modern understanding of museums is also reflected in the Feldberg project. Visitor retention and accessibility are paramount, and with a creative concept, the museum in Feldberg could soon become a popular destination for both locals and tourists.

Now it's time to wait and see how the plans become more concrete, and the community will be eagerly following the progress. Who knows, perhaps a visit to the new museum will soon be on the list of “must-sees” in the region. We'll stay tuned and keep reporting! In the meantime, interested citizens can submit their suggestions for the name of the museum and become part of this exciting project.
