With a colorful ceremony, the Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania Foundation celebrated its tenth anniversary and at the same time celebrated the fifth birthday of the foundation in Neustrelitz. The ceremony could hardly have been greater: On May 28th, the MV 2025 volunteer award was awarded in the Golden Hall of the Neustadt Palais in Schwerin in Schwerin, which has been awarded to outstanding school and club projects in the region for six years. Prime Minister Manuela Schwesig presented the pricing packages to the happy winners.
Six projects were able to look forward to recognition, including schools from Schwaan, Pasewalk and Neubrandenburg as well as clubs from Graal-Müritz, Strasburg (Uckermark) and the Rostock district. These positive and committed examples make it clear how important volunteering and civil society are for the region.
Support for committed projects
A look at the last five years impressively shows that the German Foundation for Engagement and Voluntary Purposes in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania has invested almost eight million euros in the association's work. This funding includes many exciting projects that range from a singing bus in Demmin to the support of Ukrainian artists in Wrodow after the start of the Russian war of aggression. A special announcement of the ceremony was the planned move of the foundation to the Carolinen palace in Neustrelitz, which was built by architect Friedrich Wilhelm Buttel in 1850. Unfortunately, the move has been postponed indefinitely because the renovation of the historical building has not yet started. The foundation currently has a rental agreement in the former district office in Neustrelitz by the beginning of 2027 and thus remains at its location for the time being.
