After over 100 years: Grand Ducal Palace becomes a boutique hotel!

A historical event is imminent: On June 29, 2025, the Grand Ducal Palais in Neustrelitz will be reopened as a boutique hotel after more than 100 years. With this reopening, an important chapter in regional history is re -opened. As early as 1915, the imposing building was a private residence for the Grand Duke Adolf Friedrich VI. built by Mecklenburg-Strelitz. The history of the palace is as exciting as it is tragic, because after the disappearance of the Grand Duke in 1918, his fate took a turn that influenced it over the decades.

The building planned by Ministerialrat Paul Schondorf in the neoclassical style not only captivates with its impressive architecture, but is also picturesquely near Lake Zier. The idyllic park with its lush roses and the historic trees give the palace a special atmosphere. It is particularly noteworthy that the park was converted into arable land during the First World War to support the hungry population.

a place of encounter and relaxation

The complete restoration of the palace has given him back its original shine. Historical stucco and original parquet floors were lovingly worked up to create a symbiosis of past and modern technology. Andreas Krumme, who acts as the owner of the hotel work project, has already successfully restored the historical "Wildhof" in Neustrelitz and is confident that all 25 rooms and suites will be available from the opening day. The team led by hotel manager Manja Westermann is also ready to offer the first guests an unforgettable experience.

Guests await a fine restaurant called Strelitzia in the Grand Ducal Palais under the direction of chef Torsten Räth. The modern bar men's room and a wellness area with pool and saunas round off the comprehensive offer. The Palais Salon, which takes up to 120 people, and the Marble Salon for smaller celebrations with space for 22 people are available for events.

A look into the future

The planned opening of the historic coach house at the end of 2025 will expand the offer by an additional 26 rooms and apartments. This shows that the visionary crook not only thinks of the history of the building, but also of a blooming future for Neustrelitz and the Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania region. The comprehensive use of the large space in the middle of such a historic environment means a valuable asset for the location.

With the revival of this unique heir, guests can not only experience the amenities of a modern boutique hotel, but also feel the fascinating story of the palace with all its ups and downs. Hogapage reports on the Werdegang and the challenges that the Palais and its future operators face up. A certainly essential place for travelers who want to experience Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania in a very special way. Past, present and future come together harmoniously.

How does the palace become an attraction for tourists and locals? One thing is clear: the anticipation for the reopening is great and the response will surely pull wide circles!
