Reading Festival in Kühlungsborn: Read, listen and be amazed on November 21st!
Things are about to get really exciting in Kühlungsborn, because on Friday, November 21st, 2025, the reading festival will take place under the motto “Reading – Listening – Marveling”. How Coastal Reporter reports, this festival is part of the 22nd Nationwide Reading Day, a wonderful initiative that promotes the joy of reading.
The event is organized by the 3 Möwen e.V. association and the Evangelical Lutheran Church Community of Kühlungsborn and offers the opportunity to immerse yourself in the world of books at over ten reading locations, such as cafés, schools and the art gallery. Over 30 participants, including citizens and students, will tell their favorite stories. Admission is free and anyone interested is welcome to take part.
Diversity of stories and exchange about books
This year the festival surprises with a colorful mix of fairy tales, modern adventures, Low German and classics. A special highlight will be the final reading at 7 p.m. in the Kunsthalle Kühlungsborn, where Mayor Olivia Arndt will speak. There will also be a campaign called “My book for your book”, which promotes the exchange of favorite books and offers the opportunity to exchange books. The Reading Foundation In cooperation with Carlsen Verlag and the Smalland children's book exhibitions, we have worked to ensure that around half a million daycare children receive a special reading mouse edition.
This year there is the fourth volume “We read aloud! Colorful stories” for children aged three and over, which is already completely sold out. It contains, among other things, the stories “Max goes to kindergarten” and “All of us – every person is valuable”. This commitment shows how important reading and supporting reading projects are for the youngest generation.
Commitment and community
The 3 Möwen e.V. association is also known for its many other projects that aim to promote a caring community in Kühlungsborn. These include initiatives such as the Welcome Bridge and support for Internet users via SilverSurfer. Working towards a dementia-friendly community is also important to the association.
