New episodes of Praxis mit Meerblick: Rügen in the focus of filming!
The latest season of the popular ARD series “Praxis mit Meerblick” is in the starting blocks and is delighting not only fans, but also the locals on Rügen. The series about the doctor Nora Kaminski, played by Tanja Wedhorn, has been enjoying great success since 2017. With a total of 26 episodes, the show has become a real highlight that tells the dramatic and emotional stories of Nora and her patients. The makers will return with four new episodes in spring 2025; the grand finale of the last season already ran on May 2, 2025, as Joyn reports.
Nora Kaminski is making a new start on the Baltic Sea island of Rügen after her career as a cruise ship doctor. The charming backdrop of Rügen, known for its impressive chalk cliffs, harbor towns and fine sandy beaches, plays a central role in the story. Here, places like Sassnitz, Binz and Bergen are not just landscape paintings, but also have a significant influence on the stories that are told.
The filming locations of the series
Filming for the new episodes took place between August and October 2024. The “Joint Practice of Dr. Freese & Nora Kaminski” is a central filming location. Exterior shots were shot at Rosa-Luxemburg-Straße 6 in Sassnitz, while the interior shots were shot in a holiday apartment at number 4. This stands out so clearly from the fascinating scenery presented in the series. The hospital in Bergen, which plays a role in several episodes, is supplemented by exterior shots at the West Hospital in Stralsund, as Prisma explains.
Particularly noteworthy is Peer's apartment, Nora's ex-husband, which is being built in Prora, a historic district of Binz. This location not only has an eventful history, but is also known for its picturesque sandy beaches and converted buildings from the Nazi era that now function as modern holiday apartments. This combination of history and nature makes Rügen the ideal setting for the captivating stories in the series.
Social issues in the plot
The new episodes not only address Nora's personal development, but also address profound social issues. In the episode “Always Ready,” Nora is once again pushed to her limits as she rarely allows herself any rest after an accident and worries about her patients while neglecting her own health. Another exciting storyline revolves around a transgender child whose life is in danger. In all of this, the complex relationship with Max Jensen, played by Bernhard Piesk, is also taken up. Moin provides information about these episodes and many other details.
The dramatic plot of the episode “Sleeping Beauty” also addresses the challenges of a ballet student named Lea, who wants to win a leading role in “Sleeping Beauty”, but encounters hurdles due to her identity. Nora becomes supportive and shows that it's about more than just physical injuries; Psychological support is essential. These stories help to not only entertain viewers but also make them think.
