New network Life Paths: Grimmen fights for better care!

In Grimmen, work is diligently worked on a new network that should benefit seniors and people in need in the region. In a round table on the subject of care and medical care, the idea for the “life paths” network was born. Above all, the focus is on the challenge of improving medical and nursing care in structurally weak regions. The gap between the needs of those in need of care and the availability of qualified nurses is getting bigger, which requires urgent action. This reports grimmen.de .

The goal of "life paths" is to establish a central coordination center for seniors and those in need. Together with the Senior Advisory Board, the Paritätische Wohlfahrtsverband Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and the state specialist office dementia, the initiators are working on a system that is intended to bundle important information about services and offers. Mayor Marco Jahns underlined the importance of the project: The city offers advisory support, but cannot provide any financial resources from the urban budget.

financing and concept development

For the project point, impressive 25,000 euros in funding from a state foundation were approved. A sustainable concept is now being created, which is to be presented by the end of July. A financial application for August will be sought in the country. In the first steps of the project, the focus is on the recording of contacts and offers in the senior and care sector to create a solid basis.

An important component of the network foundation is cooperation with the Stralsund University of Applied Sciences. Expertise for database management is provided there. The new network is intended to bundle information offers on applications, domestic support, care as well as medical care and home applications. Numerous actors from a wide variety of areas are included, including nursing services, hospitals, doctors and also local social organizations.

voluntary support wanted

The actors of the project are looking for volunteers from different areas of life. Computer experts are particularly in demand who can help build technical support. The Senior Advisory Board relies on a wide network to promote the quality of life and the participation of older people in the municipality. As can be read in senioren-bv.de , the topic of altitude and aging in the municipality is of great importance.

Through targeted measures in the areas of health and nursing care as well as living and living environment, the quality of life and independence of the elderly should be strengthened. At the same time, municipalities have to take responsibility in the elderly policy and make the necessary course for this.

networking and future orientation

Developments in Grimmen are not alone, but are part of a larger trend that is also being followed in other parts of Germany. Similar to the network "redesigning social affairs" (song), which has been working on future -oriented solutions for care, care and participation since 2006, there is also a comprehensive approach in Grimmen: new forms of living, local services and networking are just a few of the measures that can have a decisive influence on the quality of life in old age. Information on this can be found on the website of Bertelsmann Stiftung .

With the “Life Paths” network in Grimmen, an important step is taken to create a strong and supportive environment for our older fellow citizens. The coming months will decide how successfully this initiative can be implemented. We stay up to date with the progress!
