Care costs are exploding: will your money soon be gone? New escape game in Wolgast!

A very special anniversary is being celebrated in the tranquil coastal town of Heringsdorf: The “Stella Maris” senior center looks back on 25 years of care and support. At a time when the cost of a place in a nursing home is rising to around 3,100 euros per month, this is a reason for joy and celebration. Thanks to nursing care insurance subsidies, the personal contribution can be reduced by around 75 percent from the fourth year onwards, which makes it easier for many families. In view of demographic change, applications for care are increasing significantly, but long processing times at social welfare offices often lead to further challenges.

At the same meeting, the Vorpommern-Greifswald district council decided to take over the Anklamer Verkehrsgesellschaft (AVG) by the district's own transport company (VVG). In view of AVG's financial difficulties, which were literally brought to its knees by the Deutschlandticket and rising operating costs, this step is not only necessary, but also forward-looking.

New offers for the region

Another bright spot for the region is the opening of a new dm drugstore in Wolgast. Now customers can shop conveniently on site and save themselves the long journey to Greifswald. With a team of 15 employees led by Maria Tews, the branch focuses on friendliness and first-class service.

A new escape game is also opening at the Golf Hotel Balmer See, which will captivate hotel guests and external visitors. This experience is based on the founder's notes and the fire of 2012, which caused significant damage of around 1.5 million euros. From autumn to spring, anyone interested can take part in this adventure game for just 10 euros per person.

Gastronomy of the year

Voting for the “Gastronomy of the Year” in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania is already underway and is possible until November 4th. Over 4,200 votes have already been cast. The leading position in the “Restaurant” category is currently “Zum Burgwall” in Sternberg, followed by “Weltenbummler” in Binz and “Strandläufer” in Ahrenshoop – so there’s still a bit going on!

Current developments in the region show that quality and accessibility are in the foreground. Whether it's the new branch, the care facilities or the entertaining escape game - there's a lot going on here, and it's being gratefully accepted by the population.
