New mayor for Rüting: Rico Gindler takes over after Hinze!
There is a new wind in the small community of Rüting: After the sad death of long-time mayor Holger Hinze, who passed away in May 2023, the citizens have now elected Rico Gindler from the CDU as the new mayor. The election took place with 454 eligible voters and a turnout of around 62 percent, a thoroughly respectable result for the small community.
Holger Hinze, who has held the scepter since 1994 and was also involved in the “Carl Orff” district music school, leaves a big gap. Gindler now followed in his footsteps and received 196 yes votes, while his challenger Andreas Böhm remained in favor with voters with 80 votes. The challenges that Gindler is now tackling should not be underestimated. In particular, the planned replacement building for the fire station and community center will keep him and his team busy.
Looking ahead: challenges for Gindler
Although the elections are behind us, local politics remain on the agenda. The next mayoral election for northwest Mecklenburg will take place in Dassow next Sunday. Voters there have the choice between Kerstin Weiss from the SPD and Florian Müller from the Ostseestrand voters' community, as the previous mayor Sascha Kuhfuß wants to resign from his post early.
Rico Gindler knows that he depends on the support of citizens in order to successfully implement the upcoming projects. “We have to tackle it together,” said Gindler. The new construction of the fire station and community center, which plays a central role for the community, requires not only financial resources, but also the commitment of the entire community.
A new chapter begins
With the breath of fresh air that Gindler brings to the mayor's office, Rüting will certainly experience many new initiatives that are intended to enrich community life. It will be exciting to see what the new mayor's first steps look like and how he masters the challenges that lie ahead.
Citizens are now called upon to take an active part in social life. Because as the saying goes – “Together we are strong!”. It is clear that a new chapter is beginning in the small community of Rüting, and the pressure on Gindler to fulfill expectations could hardly be greater.
