Looking for a new food provider for the Feldberg School!
In Feldberg it is time for a change in the lunch provision at the Hans Fallada School. The community is looking for a new food provider for the coming years. The current contract with AWO Mecklenburg-Strelitz gGmbH expires on July 31, 2025, and how Northern Courier reported, the AWO has already announced that delivery beyond this date will no longer be possible. The reason: the required premises are no longer available.
After July 31st, food distribution will continue to take place directly at school. In order to ensure this seamless transition, it is now up to the municipality of Feldberger Seenlandschaft to find a new provider. Approximately 50 meals are needed each day for students and teachers, and it is important that food continues to be provided.
The municipality has decided to put the midday procurement process out to public tender. This tender is valid from August 1, 2025 to July 31, 2028. In order to cushion possible price increases in the future, the municipality is currently making a monthly subsidy to the previous provider. However, this could change as the new agreement also includes renovation work by the new operator, which means that AWO will have to stop its cooking activities.
Who can apply?
The local government is trying to find a partner who has a good hand in catering. The new provider is asked to observe the regulations of public tenders, as also stated in the German tender sheet are determined. These regularly provide up-to-date information about tenders in the areas of catering and gastronomy. Clients include not only schools, but also municipal facilities, airports and social institutions, which brings a wide range of experiences and ideas into the selection process.
With a contract that will run for three years, the possibility is also being considered that the Neustrelitz-Land office could purchase these services. It is important that applicants take the growing legal requirements into account in the procurement process. Procurement procedures with a value of less than 10,000 euros should continue to be processed at the municipal level in order to ensure flexibility in this matter.
Regardless of the future agreement, the public law contract between the office and the municipality will not affect the municipality's staffing plan. However, it remains to be seen how the lower legal regulator will approve the agreement.
With this tender, the municipality of Feldberger Seenlandschaft is not only looking for a new food provider, it is also setting an example for quality and sustainability in school catering. This shows that community commitment and responsible action are important in order to ensure high-quality catering for the younger generations in the region in the future.
