Fritz Reuter as a Playmobil figure: Sensational sales start in the museum!

On November 7th, 2025, Fritz Reuter's 115th birthday, the Reutermuseum in Stavenhagen opened its doors for the release of a very special toy figure. The Fritz Reuter Playmobil special figure has proven to be in great demand, and the first buyers were already waiting in line before the museum opened. Thomas Bastian from Malchin was one of the first to buy the figure to give to his grandchildren (8 and 11 years old). A local woman from Stavenhagen also secured the coveted piece on behalf of her 17-year-old granddaughter, who is currently preparing for her high school diploma.

The great interest in the Fritz Reuter figure is understandable. Museum director Torsten Jahn reported numerous inquiries from all over Germany. The start of sales took place in the presence of the well-known artist Christel Kuschke-Berghauer, who underlined the importance of this figure in a celebratory atmosphere. What is particularly exciting is the fact that the figure will only be available at the Reutermuseum until January 2026, after which it will be shipped. The edition is limited to 25,000 pieces, and that gives the collector's item a special appeal.

A legacy for literature

The idea of such a model had been in the air for a long time, and on November 7th it finally happened. As the Fritz Reuter Literary Society informed, the pre-production model of the figure was examined by the museum team before approval for production was given. It is part of a special Playmobil series that includes both the Fritz Reuter figure and a figure by Thomas Mann in 2025, which will be released in May. Thomas Mann himself often emphasized the importance of Fritz Reuters for his development as a writer. His mother often read the Mecklenburg author's stories to the children, which shaped Mann's early literary experiences.

The goal behind the publication of the Fritz Reuter toy figure is clear: to interest younger people in the great poet and to keep his works alive. This approach is also reflected in inquiries from the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg, which would like to integrate the figure into teaching content. Another highlight in the literary world is this year's Reuter Literature Prize, which is awarded to the author of the book “Thomas Mann and Fritz Reuter”.

Playmobil and the great passion for collecting

But that's not all that makes collectors' hearts beat faster. From May 13, 2024, EDEKA will start a collection campaign for the European Football Championship, in which fans will have the opportunity to collect Playmobil figures of the German national football team. For every purchase value of 5.00 euros you receive one loyalty point to get hold of the coveted figures. The figures of well-known players such as Joshua Kimmich and Thomas Müller are particularly trendy. This collection campaign runs until June 22, 2024 and brings a bit of anticipation for the football festival of the year.

The world of Playmobil figures between Fritz Reuter and German football unfolds here in all its diversity. Whether culture or sport - the figures symbolize identity and history, and the interest in them shows that tradition and modern collecting can go hand in hand.
