Violent thunderstorms and budget debate: Teterow faces challenges!
Teterow, Deutschland - Last night a violent thunderstorm accompanied the meeting in the Teterow town hall, in which the city representatives agreed to the budget for 2023. The budget comprises impressive 1900 pages and is created for the first time by treasurer Achim Langhof. However, the MPs were unsettled by the complexity of the document. "There is still room for improvement in terms of communication and transparency," says Sigrun Maibohm from UTF and thus supports the need for more clarity in household management.
Mathias Schmitus from the AfD also commented by registering the desire for a printed version of the budget. The AfD parliamentary group also found that the 30,000 euro grant for the pike festival did not receive the hoped-for support and therefore turned to the local authority. Nevertheless, the faction supports a grant of 5000 euros for the Teterower Gallery.
investments and projects
Mayor Andreas Lange further announced that the city would like to make investments of two million euros in the coming years. Among other things, the expansion of the path to the high wood and the continuation of the road construction measure on Appelhäger Weg are planned. A bike path on the B 108 and the cemetery design are also on the list of projects. An exciting development is the blocking note for the conversion of the "gray school", the alternatives of which are now to be checked.
Although these planned projects are promising, the city is under pressure because it has to fall back on reserves to bring the income and expenses into balance. The budget not only serves for the planned financial structure, but also to determine the financial requirements for municipal tasks, as proven in §§ 93 to 114 of the municipal code (GemO). The budget statute, which comes into force on January 1, defines the total amounts and regulates the coverage of expenses and the necessary obligations.
claims by MPs
The city representatives also demanded clear statements from the mayor about future housekeeping. It has become clear that the challenges in financial planning are not small, and well -founded communication between the city administration and MPs is essential. Change applications during the budget year can be introduced by the supplementary budget statute and supplementary budget plan, as the provisions of the municipal regulations provide in order to give the citizens a transparent picture of the financial situation.
All eyes are focused on the new budget, which should not only initiate numerous projects, but also offers city representatives the opportunity to get more involved in municipal financial planning. The next steps will be crucial to implement future measures from the planning and to master the challenges together.
