House burned down in Schaprode: 200,000 euros in damage, police investigated!

In the small community of Schaprode in the district of Vorpommern-Rügen, a house fire caused great excitement late Thursday evening. At 7:00 a.m. on Friday morning, the emergency services reported that the building was already fully on fire when they arrived. Fortunately, two residents, a 45-year-old and a 14-year-old, were able to get to safety themselves. The neighbors were evacuated as a precaution, while 63 firefighters from Schaprode, Trent, Kluis, Gingst, Voltens and the leadership group of West Rügen moved to fight the fire.

Thanks to the fast intervention of the firefighters, it was possible to prevent the flames from spreading to the neighboring houses. Nevertheless, the house is now uninhabitable, the property damage is estimated at around 200,000 euros. The police have started the investigation into the cause of the fire, which has so far remained unclear and asks possible witnesses for clues. Feuertrutz networks there is no comprehensive and uniform fire statistics in Germany, but the existing data show tendencies on frequent causes of fire and injured in connection with fire.

Such incidents keep losing a light on the importance of fire protection and prevention. Great challenges are particularly noticeable in old or dilapidated buildings.
