Strasburg D-Juniors celebrate bronze at the harmonious district championship

Last Saturday, June 24, 2025, the D-juniors of the Vorpommern-Greifswald Football Association showed their skills at this year's district championships on the sports field at the Reuterkoppel in Strasburg. Six teams competed to clinch the title and deliver over six hours of thrilling football. The event was described by unit board member Tom Wasserstrahl as harmonious and fair, which underlined the positive overall impression.

The unbeatable leaders were the boys from SV Murchin/Rubkow, who secured first place with 13 points from five games. With four wins and one draw, they left no doubt about their dominance on the field. The U-11 team from Greifswald came in second, which also played a strong tournament with 11 points, followed by the Strasburg youngsters, who won the bronze medal with 6 points, one win and four draws.

Exciting encounters and a happy team

The Strasburg team had prepared well and suffered their only defeat against Murchin/Rubkow with a score of 0-1. However, they were able to defeat SV Gützkow 2-1 and draw in exciting matches with Greifswald, Eggesin and SG Kaiserbäder. Unit coach Martin Nikolai was satisfied with his team's performance and praised the commitment of his players.

Motor Eggesin ended up in fourth place with just three points after two defeats and three draws, while the E-Juniors of SpVgg Torgelow-Ueckermünde took last place without a point. SG Pasewalk/Rollwitz secured fifth place with five points and the F-Juniors from Torgelow, Ueckermünde and Eggesin were eliminated in the group phase.
