Ueckermünde's old men are fighting for the state title in Bentwisch!

Things will soon get more exciting in the football landscape of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, because... Old men of the FSV unit Ueckermünde are facing their big day. Next Saturday, June 28th, 2025, the people of Haffstadt will be competing in Bentwisch from 11 a.m. to show off their skills at the state championship for over-35s. In the opening game they face Hagenower SV from KFV Westmecklenburg.

Another obvious sticking point will be the duel against FSV Bentwisch and TSV 1860 Stralsund. FSV Unit Ueckermünde qualified brilliantly to take part and can point to their title as district champions of the Vorpommern-Greifswald Football Association and the district cup they won; a true football double!

Personal challenges and optimism

Although the squad for the tournament is weakened by absences - including players like Christopher Priem, Christoph Gehrke, Kay Reinke and Karsten Eggert - player-coach Andreas Donges remains optimistic. “Despite these personnel shortages, we want to give our best and perform well,” he explains resolutely. The demands are high and the people from Ueckermünde definitely have a chance of winning the state title.

The starting position is also interesting for the other teams in the championship. The defending champions from last season, Grimmener SV, had to admit defeat in the district cup final against TSV Stralsund. This gives FSV Unit Ueckermünde the opportunity to take the self-proclaimed leadership in the country and bring home the trophy.

Off the field

The Football Association and the organization of the games require careful documentation of the results. Those responsible are required to check match report identifiers and make adjustments if necessary, as shown FUSSBALL.de described. False results can also be reported via the platform, so everything is fair and regulated.

As current events show, an exciting football weekend is once again approaching in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. All eyes are on the old men's team of FSV Unit Ueckermünde, which will give everything to win the national title and offer the spectators a thrilling football festival. The games will begin soon, and one can only hope that the players' skills shine in their full glory.
