Neukalen shines again: art exhibition in the former Schlecker!

Something is happening again in Neukalen: On Sunday, November 9th, the former Schlecker branch will open its doors for a very special exhibition. The sales room at Neukalener Markt has remained unused for around 13 years, since the drugstore chain went bankrupt. Now Kjeld Heinze has taken the opportunity to open these windows to art and fill the empty shelves with his impressive views.

Kjeld Heinze, a self-taught and experienced veduta painter, will present around 60 of his luxury prints. Known for their detailed depiction, these works of art date from a time when topographically accurate cityscapes were particularly popular, especially during the Renaissance and the height of the Baroque period. Heinze himself has been completely dedicated to the topic of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania since 1999 and is known to many as an employee of the traditional photography branch Steindorf-Sabath in Waren. He has now created around 200 vedute, which can take weeks to complete.

Art meets community

The idea of enlivening the empty shelves with his works of art came to the artist while he was watching children in front of a disco. In close collaboration with Heiko Thimian, the owner of the food market, the square now shines in a new light: the lights are switched on until 9 p.m. - and even until 10 p.m. on disco evenings - to offer visitors an inviting ambience.

At the opening on Sunday at 2 p.m., Heinze invites the public to take a look at his work over coffee, cookies and champagne. Mayors, local politicians and former customers of the Schlecker branch are expected among the guests. The exhibition is scheduled to last three months before additional themes and guest artists enrich the space. The organization and commitment of those involved show how art and community can come together.

A look behind the scenes

Kjeld Heinze's vedute is characterized by an extraordinary level of detail; It takes him about two months to produce a 20 x 30 cm work. He uses around 600,000 pencil dots. The themes of his works of art are diverse and include, among others, the Eldena monastery ruins, the fairytale castle Bredenfelde as well as Rüganer Alleen and the Müritzstadt Waren. His detailed pencil drawings often appear so realistic that they almost seem like photographs.

If you would like to find out more about the artist, you can arrange studio visits by telephone and find out about current exhibitions on the homepage. The upcoming exhibition in Neukalen offers an excellent opportunity to enjoy art and culture in a unique setting while leaving the long shadow of decay behind.

Again Northern Courier reports, Heinze not only wants to impress with his work, but also build a bridge between the past and the present. Exhibitions of this kind are more than just a showcase for art; they are an important part of cultural life in our region.

Whether art lovers or the curious, everyone is invited to go on a journey of discovery this Sunday and discover the creative possibilities that lie dormant in the former supermarket branch.
