Fire in the Röbel Clinic: Unidentified people set patient rooms on fire!
A worrying event occurred last week at the Röbel Clinic. On October 6, 2025 at 7:50 p.m., the clinic's fire alarm system was activated after a fire broke out in a patient room. Fortunately, no one was present in the room at the time, which probably prevented anything worse from happening. The fire was immediately extinguished by the Röbel, Sietow and Gotthun volunteer fire departments, which involved a total of 36 comrades. The fire brigade was able to quickly bring the fire under control, so that no injuries were reported, as Mueritzportal reports.
During the incident, 15 patients had to be evacuated from the affected ward. However, after extinguishing the fire and taking safety measures, the patients were able to quickly return to their rooms. However, the affected patient room is badly damaged and is uninhabitable until further notice. The estimates for the material damage amount to around 10,000 euros.
Investigations are ongoing
The criminal police have started an investigation and are assuming serious arson. It is suspected that unknown perpetrators set fire to some of the furniture. The search for clues and the preservation of evidence are supported by the Neubrandenburg Criminal Investigation Service. Such an offense not only causes shock among patients and employees, but also raises questions about safety in the clinics.
Two fires in one evening
Just one day later, on October 7th, there was another fire in a rehabilitation clinic in Prerow. At 6:45 p.m. the clinic reported a fire in a patient room; Fortunately, the 80-year-old patient was not in the room when the fire broke out. The volunteer fire departments from Prerow and Zingst ensured that the situation was quickly brought under control. In this case, 233 people had to leave the clinic temporarily but were able to return quickly. Fortunately, there were no injuries here either, and property damage of around 10,000 euros was also found. The police are also investigating negligent arson here, with further investigations being carried out by the fire investigator.
These incidents not only raise questions about safety in the clinics, but also about preventative measures to avoid similar situations in the future. The recent events are a sobering sign and are likely to call those responsible into action to ensure the safety of patients and hospital staff, as NDR emphasizes.
