Seniors start the Peenefest in a sporty way: 25 kilometers of fun on two wheels!

The joy of cycling came to Demmin when the senior cyclists from Volkssolidarität opened the sporting events at the 32nd Peenefest. On Friday, 15 enthusiastic cyclists gathered on time at the jetty, directly opposite the Fischerinsel, to start the approximately 25 kilometer long tour. Deputy Mayor Ronny Szabó presented a small celebratory gift from the city of 100 euros, which Arnim Schröder, 86 years old, immediately wanted to plan for a coffee chat at the Bräsel bakery, which is a popular meeting place.

The tour, lovingly organized by Renate and Hans-Jürgen Kuck, led through beautiful nature with a stop at the Trebel Bridge. Here the cyclists took the opportunity to enjoy the relaxed atmosphere and chat about an insider tip, the unknown book phone. While some pedaled on e-bikes, such as Frank Neubert and Helmut Freitag, Marita Maltz and Arnim Schröder opted for traditional cycling without motor support. The enthusiasm for cycling was obvious and everyone involved emphasized the positive effects on fitness.

The cycle path and its challenges

Although the participants were mostly in top form, there were also critical comments. The group noticed that although the road shoulders had long since been mown, there was a lot of rubbish lying around on the side of the road. The cycle path in the commercial area in particular lost some of its fat as it was partially overgrown and made cycling less enjoyable. But despite these small stumbling blocks, the cyclists didn't let their spirits be spoiled.

More and more offers throughout Germany are promoting the trend of cycling holidays among seniors. Just imagine the popular Altmühl cycle path, which, with its 280 kilometers and hardly any inclines, is ideal for many older cyclists. But the Mecklenburg Lakes Cycle Path, which has a total length of 625 kilometers, is also an attractive option that leads through picturesque landscapes and has cultural sights along the way. Such tours combine active exploration with relaxing breaks in order to ensure that recovery is not neglected. Active retirees emphasizes that trips of this kind are often peppered with cultural highlights and not only stimulate the senses, but also promote interesting conversations.

Stay active and fit

The turn to guided cycling tours is no coincidence. The benefits of these activities are visible and tangible: They not only offer the opportunity to exercise in the fresh air, but also to enjoy the heavenly peace of nature and improve your fitness at the same time. As in Natours to read, the focus is on enjoyment and little stress; Short stages and some breaks for enjoyment are ideal for seniors who want to set their own pace.

According to some recent reports, cycling holidays are becoming increasingly popular among seniors and more and more people are discovering the benefits of staying fit. On a day like the Peenefest it becomes clear how much fun and joy of life there can be when cycling together!
