Young talents stay: Successful search for a training position in Mecklenburg!
In the Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania region, the situation when looking for training places has changed positively in recent years. More and more young people are deciding to stay at home and complete their apprenticeships locally. Katrin Berndt, the managing director of the Regional Enterprise Network (RUN) in Malchin, reports increasing satisfaction among training companies. This positive trend, which has been noticed in recent months, also has to do with targeted advertising campaigns and practical actions that are now having an impact. In particular, the migration to the big cities is no longer as pronounced as in earlier times, which fuels the hope of a stable recruitment of young talent.
Some companies in the region have already achieved initial success. The Ostmecklenburgisch Vorpommersche Vernutz- und Deponie GmbH in Rosenow has taken on three new apprentices. The Hatscher bakery in Stavenhagen is also actively involved and is training three young people to become baked goods sellers, while another is ready to be trained as a baker. In addition, the nursing service “Fritz Reuter” in Stavenhagen currently has 12 apprentices, four of whom started this year. These positive developments show that local companies are optimistic about the future.
Diversity of training occupations
Various programs and services support prospective apprentices in finding suitable training positions. Those interested can request helpful information and access extraordinary offers of help through the Chamber of Crafts. These include the internship and apprenticeship exchange, which can be used free of charge, as well as the “Apprenticeship Radar 2.0” app, which provides access to training companies, vacant apprenticeships and internships. Trained advisors from the Chamber of Crafts also offer personal support to anyone who may have difficulties finding an apprenticeship.
Commitment of local businesses
The enthusiasm for apprenticeships in the region is also reflected in the numbers: The Buhr locksmith shop in Malchin has also expanded its training offerings and was able to take on a new apprentice, so that a total of four trainees now liven up the workshop. The Dahms painting company is currently training two young people and already has another trainee in sight for next year. A trainee has also started working in the town hall of Malchin.
In order to further promote the search for training places, the RUN is actively involved in the region. With craft fairs, training fairs and company tours, a strong network has developed that helps companies recruit apprentices. This year, 51 young people successfully completed their training at the Marcus School in Malchin.
Sustainable initiatives and the active participation of companies show that the region is well on its way to offering young people prospects - right on its own doorstep.
The success of these efforts is a ray of hope for the region and could potentially help more young people stay in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and invest in a solid professional future.
