Staying in the league is in danger: Stavenhagen is fighting against bottom team Narva!
There are crucial weeks ahead in Stavenhagen for the handball players of Stavenhagener SV. After three defeats in a row, the upcoming game on Saturday evening against Narva Berlin at 6 p.m. will be a real turning point. It's not just about points, but about staying in the league, because in the following weeks several important encounters against direct competitors await the players.
Coach Torsten Richter sums up the big challenge: “A win is absolutely necessary!” Narva Berlin is currently bottom of the table and has not yet picked up a point in four games. Nevertheless, Richter sees the game as anything but easy. In the last few matches, Narva scored 30 goals, which indicates a certain offensive strength. In addition, the match in Berlin will be played without adhesive, which can pose additional challenges.
The personnel situation is getting worse
The situation is difficult for Stavenhagener SV not only because of their current form, but also because of the personnel situation. Goalkeeper Annemarie Brandt is returning after a stay abroad, but has not yet completed any training with the team. Important players are also missing: Tanvir Kaur (jumping injury), Lara Lichtwald (knee) and Theresa Nehls (work commitments) are all not in the squad. A win would not only be the second success of the season, but also a nice present after backcourt player Pauline Engfer's 22nd birthday.
In this difficult situation, the team wants to feel the support of their fans. “We need everyone’s back,” Richter continued. The goal is clear: finally collect points again and start the next challenges with fresh courage.
A strong foundation for the future
The handball department in Stavenhagen has set itself the goal of establishing a passionate handball community for all age groups. Department head Alexander Schuck emphasizes how important it is to support youth teams. "We want to increase the number of members and strengthen our women's team. The men's team should also create a solid basis for a return to the top league," explains Schuck on the club's official website. Support campaigns and community activities are at the top of the agenda because values such as cohesion and fair play are very important to the club.
In addition, the development of the Pommernland Beach Arena is seen as a very important building block for the future of handball in Stavenhagen. “We thank all sponsors and supporters for their belief in our visions,” says Schuck, inviting the community to become part of this development.
At a time when handball is becoming increasingly popular nationally and tens of thousands of fans are streaming into the arenas, for the Stavenhagen women it is not just about sporting success, but also about the feeling of belonging and the joy of the game. Handball inspires and brings people together – and especially in Stavenhagen that means: now more than ever!
