Glashäger brings a new 0.75l glass container – a strong step for the environment!
A fresh wind is blowing through the mineral water landscape of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania: Glashäger Brunnen GmbH will be bringing a new 0.75 liter N2 reusable glass container onto the market from November. With this move, the company aims to modernize its product range while reducing its environmental footprint. The popular 0.7 liter pool glass bottle is being discontinued, while the new 12-pack reusable container not only offers slightly more content (0.6 liters additional), but is also equipped with a practical central handle for easier transport. The design of the bottle retains the iconic pearl design that customers have long been familiar with.
As about-drinks.com reports, Glashäger is the market leader in the mineral water sector in the region with a market share of around 18 percent. The brand actively advertises with poster campaigns and social media campaigns to make its offering known. In addition, Glashäger has had the regional symbol “Naturally from MV” since 2025, which underlines the strong connection to the region.
Commitment to the environment
Glashäger's reusable quota is an impressive 75 percent of total sales. This means that the company is not only in a good financial position, but is also making a significant contribution to reducing environmental impact. According to a new study by an EU institute, reusable glass bottles are more environmentally friendly than single-use glass bottles. This study considers 16 different environmental impacts, including climate change and water use. It is becoming increasingly clear that doubling the amount of reusable packaging, which Glashäger is also aiming for with its new container, is a sustainable solution.
BUND.net highlights that reusable packaging is not only efficient for drinks, but is also superior for to-go food. However, the return of reusable containers depends heavily on the density of return stations - a point that retailers and packaging manufacturers should pay close attention to in order to make returns easier. In places like Tübingen and Heidelberg there are already successes in implementing return systems.
Production and responsibility
At the Bad Doberan location, Glashäger employs 64 people, including 4 trainees, who together produce 56 different branded items. The company is part of the family-run HassiaGroup from Bad Vilbel, which has established itself as one of the strongest providers of non-alcoholic soft drinks in the new federal states. Your responsibility goes beyond your own business: Where possible, Glashäger Brunnen plans to improve its carbon footprint together with partners. These measures include the creation of the Corporate Carbon Footprint (CCF) by ClimatePartner - an important step on the way to becoming a sustainable company.
Overall, it shows that Glashäger Brunnen not only plays a role as a leading provider in its industry, but is also actively working towards a more environmentally friendly future. With the new reusable container and the sustainable initiatives, the company makes it clear that it is about more than just its own profit - responsibility is taken seriously here.
