Ferry accident causes chaos: Rostock ferry 7 hours late!

A normal Monday in Rostock? Not quite! The ferry connection between Rostock and Gedser has caused a stir in the last few days. The ferry “Berlin” was unable to dock shortly before Gedser due to a defective bow flap and had to turn back. The Baltic Sea newspaper reports that 500 passengers finally arrived in Denmark a whopping seven hours late. But the “Berlin” is now back in use and commutes according to the timetable.

The connection between Rostock and Gedser is the oldest ferry connection from Germany to Scandinavia and stretches over 48 kilometers through the picturesque Mecklenburg Bay. This route is not only a popular destination for tourists, but also plays an important role in the transportation of vehicles. Daily departures, up to ten in each direction, ensure that travelers and goods travel quickly and comfortably between the two countries.

News from Rostock

Aside from the ferries, there is news in the Hanseatic city that is causing excitement. There are two high-quality building plots for sale in the city, but there has so far been no great interest in finding an investor. One of the properties is located below the impressive St. Peter's Church, while the other is on Ernst-Barlach-Straße. The tender for the property on Ernst-Barlach-Straße runs until mid-July.

However, the gastronomy in Rostock has to deal with another setback: the popular restaurant “Burger & Beer – Liberty Delis” surprisingly closes its doors after 13 years. The owner has already addressed his loyal customers in a short text, but the exact reasons for the closure remain unclear.

Cultural gaps

There is also a sad loss for the cultural scene: the popular concert and theater series “Montagsbalkon” on KTV is canceled this year. The reason for this is the rejection of the funding application, which in previous years always attracted up to 1,000 visitors per week and was an integral part of the summer evenings for many. What happens next remains exciting.

Despite these setbacks, there is also good news from Rostock. 8-year-old Milo got his heart's desire fulfilled and was able to meet the singer Lea before her concert in Iga Park. Despite his fear of large crowds, he took this step and will certainly be proud of his courage.

What’s in store for the people of Rostock in the coming week? The band “Fury in the Slaughterhouse” will perform in the city and provide a musical highlight. The anticipation is great!
