Reich citizens from Löcknitz: Three years in prison for illegal possession of weapons!

In Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, a new case from the Reichsbürger scene is becoming a topic of conversation. Dirk B., a 56-year-old leading figure in this movement from Löcknitz, was sentenced in absentia by the Pasewalk district court to a total prison sentence of three years and ten months. The punishment includes, among other things, the unauthorized acquisition of war weapons as well as the handling of explosive substances and threatening a bailiff, such as Northern Courier reported.

The investigations against Dirk B. began in 2020 after searches that took place as part of preparations for a possible act of violence that threatened the state. It is interesting that Dirk B. said shortly after a double murder in Halle in 2019 that he wanted to get an assault rifle. Such statements and the subsequent investigations led to him being observed by the Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution. Not only were his telephone conversations monitored, but financial documents were also examined.

Weapons and ammunition in focus

A total of more than 6,000 cartridges and several weapon-like items were confiscated during a search. Many of these were newly filled, but authorities discovered only two of the 37 “demilitarized weapons” purchased online. Dirk B. ignored the district's ban on his possession of weapons and did not adhere to the regulations.

His process was anything but smooth. Dirk B. refused to appear in the courtroom and denied the court's legitimacy. This led to the trial taking place without him, which was seen as provocative by many. His confidant Martin Wiese, another well-known right-wing extremist, caused additional excitement with his disruption during the trial and was expelled from the room.

Reichsbürger movement and its dangers

The situation surrounding Dirk B. is not isolated, but is in the context of an increasing number of people in the area of right-wing extremist violence. According to that Protection of the Constitution The current potential of violent right-wing extremists is around 15,300 people, which represents a remarkable increase. This development correlates with an increase in right-wing extremist crimes, which increased by 47.4% in 2024 compared to the previous year.

At the same time, right-wing extremist movements in the region are more active than ever. The well-known “National Alliance Löcknitz”, which Dirk B. headed, even built an event hall to further promote their activities. This shows that not only has the number of right-wing extremist activities increased, but their influence on society is also noticeably noticeable.

At the local level, the verdict against Dirk B. has brought relief to many citizens. Still, such incidents of threats and gun possession raise questions about the drastic measures authorities must take to protect society from potential harm. It also remains to be seen how the right-wing extremist scene in the region will develop and what consequences this could have for society as a whole.

The debate about gun ownership and the dangers posed by ideological movements remains highly topical. Another aspect that is important in this context can be seen in the clarifications surrounding bans on the possession of weapons. It was recently emphasized that the ownership of weapons often depends heavily on ideological attitudes, as another case shows, where a connection to the Reich Citizens' Movement was clearly visible, which led to the consequences of a ban.
